EPA Safer Choice Products We Use and Why It Matters

Cleaner Products, Safer Homes

These days, people are more concerned than ever about the chemicals they're exposed to in everyday life. When you can't go outside without breathing pollution and carcinogens, shouldn't your home at least be free of contamination?

Maid cleaning services from Organically Maid are focused on protecting you, your family, and your pets from the hazardous chemicals found in so many other cleaning products. That's why we proudly use products certified through the EPA Safer Choice program!

What the EPA Safer Choice Label Means

Safer Choice is a voluntary labeling program run by the United States Environmental Protection Agency. Its goal is to help consumers and businesses find cleaning products that are as safe as possible, free from harmful chemicals such as carcinogens, toxins, and harmful substances that persist in the environment.

Sometimes, cleaning products cannot be 100% safe and still work. The Safer Choice program helps highlight those that are minimally dangerous and ensures your home has as few hazardous chemicals in it as possible.

How Safer Choice Differs From Vague "Green" or "Natural" Claims

All too often, labels such as "green" or "natural" have no legal substance to them at all, or else the legal definitions are so vague as to be almost meaningless. However, the Safer Choice program has clear and enforceable definitions so that the label truly means something.

In particular, Safer Choice products are:

  • Free of known harmful chemicals and other agents.
  • Free of chemicals that can be allergens, such as certain fragrances.
  • Safe(r) for the environment if they escape your home.
  • Kept within strict pH (acidity) limits.
  • Contain a minimum of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs).
  • Verified as working equivalently to similar less-safe products in the same class.

In other words, EPA Safer Choice means that a particular cleaning product will work roughly as well as any other similar product, but without chemicals that can harm your family or the environment.

The Safer Choice Products We Use and What That Means For You

Whenever possible, Organically Maid uses EPA Safer Choice products for the safest, most eco-friendly cleaning maid service you've seen. We use numerous green cleaning products from Young Living, including their organic soaps, natural mineral cleaners, probiotics, and essential oils. In addition, we avoid products with strong scents that could upset anyone in your home who's sensitive to smells, pets included.

This means your home will be cleaner-than-clean when you choose our eco-friendly maid service. Your home will be spotless, and you don't have to worry about your family's health either. Our commitment to sustainable and responsible cleaning is one of the big reasons our clients choose us time after time. They know they'll get the best in cleaning from Organically Maid.
